9142 Props and Armory
США
Добавлен 31 май 2007
Hello there! My name is Jon Weger, and I love to design and make replica movie props and costumes! I've been a maker of many types going back almost 30 years now. My intention for the 9142 Props and Armory channel is to show you how to make the cool and amazing things that you love from films. I will cover tools, techniques, design and much more. We will use tools of all kinds including; 3d printers, CNC machines, laser cutters, welding, electronics, and more. Along the way we'll learn more about how to create together, and I'll show you how to use recently accessible technologies like 3d printing, cnc, and 3d modeling. The tools are all a part of the process, and I 'll show you that you can do this!
So, let's get to work and make the things that we love. All that I ask is that you offer your feedback, ideas, creativity, that that you share you knowledge and questions in the comments of the videos. Be sure to subscribe to the channel and share the videos with others.

bro, I'm surprised on the small number of likes you have considerind the amazing job you just did. Loved it! Thanks!
this idea really is ingenious. I love freebees and this was one of the best. No more braving the rain running to the workshop checking my printer every five minutes....So many thanks
Glad that it was helpful! I do enjoy using things I already have whenever possible.
any update on the r2d2?
Inside of the helmet?
One awesome launch.
It was a pretty one for sure!
Printed with black PETG and bought some Amerlabs AMD-3 black resin. The thought was to get a smooth and shiny black finish by just applying the resin and curing it under UV. Thing is, no matter what I did I always got the end result sticky/not cured. That is, until I tried to cure it afterwards again in water. Worked once and not anymore, so frustrating. All in all my findings are that: 1) It is very possible to do this 2) Oxygen seriously inhibits resin curing 3) Curing under water works but this has to be done quite fast after ordinary curing, otherwise the sticky part will never be cured 4) If you missed the window of opportunity to stick the part under water and fully cure, the sticky part is very adhesive to a new layer of wet resin. So no need for sanding - just apply more resin and again perform dry curing and immediately after that wet curing 5) The resin sometimes becomes white in random places. Perhaps due to contamination or UV overexposure, not sure 6) FDM printer parts are not waterproof, so keep in mind places where water will leak in (during submersion) and out (during drying) on your object and dry them completely before fully sealing the object with the resin
your 1985 sony handicam mechanical autofocus is annoying AF.
Ha ha. I'll send you my address so that you can send me a nice upgrade!
That's edited
No way! Ha 😂
That's cool
Thanks! There's a longer form video on the channel which shows the process if you're interested.
I just purchased a Kobra 2 Max it's 420 x 420 x 500, do you think those pieces will fit on that? I am new to all this! Lol
I printed all parts on a machine with at 300x300 bed, you will be good. The real fun starts when you have one that is 500mm in both x and y and you can print the whole dome in one part. Prints that long aren't for the squeamish though. Being newer to things, the printing of smaller sections will be good for you. You're in for a long and fun ride! Good luck!
ok
Stop it now...ha ha.
Let's GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I shined up your sticker on my resin cabinet yesterday as I was cleaning up. Making room for a really nice upgrade from my OG Photon!
@@9142PropsandArmory oooooooo hell yeah man! I have been away for a while myself and I hope to get back into making project videos too. Thanks for the inspiration!
Glad to hear it! I've had a big career change that is related to all the fun I have on RUclips. Glad to hear you're headed back too.
@@9142PropsandArmory that's awesome man! Excited for ya
Glad to see you back and of course not dead. Look forward to future content.
Thank you @MrThomass281! New stuff and lots of it in short order.
Looking forward to what you have planned.
Looking forward to catching everyone up and getting back to it! Thanks for sticking around!
Well done mate keep it up.... I will subscribe for sure. !! May for Force be with You. 🙂
how to u get it in sections
The head into sections? At the time it was probably done with Luban software most likely.
How many inches was that mower, just got a 28” one.
It's a 25", they're the best damn little mowers.
The coolest thing I've ever seen was a Saturn V model rocket when I was a kid. It took off like a scaled down real - life rocket launch. And it went to second stage while still very low. As kids we were dumb and bought the ones that went out of sight in 3 seconds, sometimes never seeing them again.
What if there was a plane passing by?
Ah yes the random plane that flies under 1000ft randomly for 0 reason
Flight occurred at an NAR club flight where all safety rules of the National Association of Rocketry are strictly followed. One of the most important safety checks prior to any launch is to insure that the range is clear and that the sky is clear (of air traffic). We're very careful to adhere to these rules fully each time we fly. Personally, I've been through ground school for pilot training and see the safety of those above me as incredibly important as id appreciate the same level of concern when I'm either a passenger in an aircraft or eventually as the pilot of one.
@billybobjoe5039 I had no idea how high the rocket would go, so it seemed like a logical question to me.
Wahat about toxicity, wearing a mask, ventilation, having glases on to not get any in your eyes etc.
Did u finish r2?
That last one wins the award for closed landing to pad.
Red, white, and boom!😂
Another vote to see your oven 🙋
So if I only have 99℅ ipa for my second half wash what should be my ipa to water ratio
Not sure I understand the question entirely, could you please clarify? The water to IPA ratio part has me scratching my head a bit.
May the force be with you
This video was made 4 years ago, and eSun is still shipping the vast majority of their filament with non re-usable spools.
That's unfortunate for sure, but the market dictates things. If people opted for spooless or cardboard spool options more often, companies would adjust to it. The consumer has to change and the companies will follow.
If i pay you $500 will you please print me a r2d2 astromech i dont have access to a 3d printer
Unfortunately, no I cannot. If you really want one, you'd be far better off getting yourself a printer and doing it. To print all of the parts of an R2 you're talking several thousand hours of print time and many, many hours of setting up prints, starting them, removing them, etc. It can be a slog. I won't dream of doing one for someone else. You should get a printer and do it! You won't be upset you did!
What did you use for the greblies for the red LED lights? Almost remind me of a garage door button.
The red lenses in the coinslots? Just small pieces of red lens material. Easiest source is brake light repair sheets from 3m. They are available at most auto parts stores.
Hi I had a question I was wondering where did you purchase your shoulder armor? And how much was it if you don't mind me asking?
Goodness, it's been like 13 years since I got it. I honestly don't remember the vendor, but I bought an imperfect pull and it was around $100 then.
@@9142PropsandArmory okay thank you
You alright man? No posts in so long
Thanks for the wellness check! Yup, I'm doing well. Had a career change a few months ago that will be much more conducive to creating stuff. I'll be back to it soon.
@@9142PropsandArmory he lives! Good Glad to hear it!
other then the weird zooms and pans this was an amazing video thank you so much
Yeah, video was poorly framed and I let the editing software go a little crazy since the shots were poor.
Well done sir. Extremely well done. Most impressive. Don’t sell yourself short. You’re very talented.
Thank you kindly!
You have quite a way with talking without telling us anything at all
Ha ha, maybe I'll have this comment inscribed on my tombstone.
Thanks for the well done review :)
Thanks Nathan!
Video starts at 8:55 you're welcome
Any updates? Part 3?
can this be used on standard PLA prints?
What do you do with the water or IPA when you wanna change it?
You do know the back panels upside down yeah? So did you ever finish your r2?
Isn't IPA flammable? How do you address that in your workshop? -thanks for the video, just started printing myself.
any updates?
Video would be better minus the music. Music just interferes with your commentary and makes it difficult to listen to.
Hey how's it going! So I got a cheap kit similar to this, but im curious can I add a external inline air reserve tank on a compressor like this? Or did I kinda screw myself when I went with the cheap option ?
Is this going to be full scale it’s hard to see in the video
B
Miss you buddy . Come back.. how is r2 and bb-8. Sorry and your son . Hope everything is good GoD bless
When making things look worn, look at old things that are worn. Like on knobs it usually on the fringe edge between top and side. Maybe tape the sandpaper on your finger tips or drop/slide of a gravel road a few times. Maybe you should make a Holocron, with at least 1TB of storage and a nice speaker and mic on rasp pi zero(battery) for song Sith music. Maybe to much for a small package but at least its function unlike most props.
any update on this build???
Actual discussion of how to clean parts starts at about 4:20. Dam thats annoying.
